Ubi Soft® Entertainment has secured
a long term licensing agreement with Suzuki Alstare
Racing, the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer's racing
team. The team, riding in the famous yellow and blue
livery, competes on the international circuit and are
amassing victories. 1998 saw riders from this prestigious
team take 1st and 3rd places in the Corona Extra Supersport World Series
championships. This year, for the first time, Team Suzuki Alstare riders are also
competing in the Superbike series - and are making a name for themselves as front
runners.
The license agreement between Suzuki Alstare and Ubi Soft is
worldwide and exclusive, running for a period of 5 years. It
will strengthen Ubi Soft's position in the motorcycle racing
games market and will allow the development of a new games
range covering all platforms. The games will be both arcade
and simulation games.
The first game resulting from this agreement will appear on
Dreamcast in the fall and will be called Suzuki Alstare Racing.
It has been developed by Criterion Studios and will be
published by Ubi Soft. This game, based on the Team Suzuki
Alstare, will be the first in a long series, as well as the first
motorcycle game to appear on Dreamcast. Bike fans will find
featured within the game the four stars of the Team Suzuki
Alstare: Fabrizio Pirovano, Stéphane Chambon, Pierfrancesco Chili, and Katsuaki
Fujiwara. Better still, gamers will be piloting their very own official bikes: Suzuki
Alstare GSX R600s and GSX R750s.
This combination of a strong license with Ubi Soft's
technological know-how holds the promise of new levels of
realism in racing games. The license will also allow Ubi Soft to
reach new gamers and to continue with its international
expansion.
