TXR: Zero (PS2) Preview
Developed by Genki, "TXR: Zero" features jaw-dropping graphics and special effects, including reflective mapping on cars, blurred brake lamps, and flying sparks on wall collisions. In addition, "TXR: Zero" heightens highway-racing excitement by placing more cars on screen for players to dodge. This newest addition to Genki's roster of titles is predicted to be the best yet in street racing simulation. "TXR: Zero" also includes a two-player mode so that fans of the series can now enjoy heart-pounding, head-to-head races with their friends. "Tokyo Xtreme Racer is known for its unique gameplay and superior graphics," said Holly Newman, executive vice president of publishing at Crave Entertainment. "Visually arresting and equipped with plenty of game modes, 'Zero' takes full advantage of PlayStation 2's impressive capabilities."
Over 100 miles of authentic Tokyo highway are all accurately mapped, interconnected
and feature working entrance and exit ramps. The game features a variety of
different play modes including; Quest, Quick, Free Run, and Time Attack. The
Quest mode features "Battle Naming System" (BNS), where the computer assigns
player a nickname based on battle time, top speed, top cornering speed, number
of collisions and enemy blocking ratio.
