Access Software has taken the
sport they know best--golf--and built a groundbreaking
game around it with Links Extreme, a new product set to
release this fall. Extreme will allow gamers to throw out the
rules of golf etiquette in an exciting new competition that
will include everything from high bouncing super balls to a
demolition driving range.
"Think of Links Extreme as Indiana Jones meets Happy
Gilmore on the golf course," explained Chris Jones,
Executive VP at Access. "Links Extreme is designed for
the golfer who wants to bend the rules, demolish some
clubs, have a lot of fun, but most importantly, win at all
costs. If gamers have half as much fun playing it as we’ve
had creating it, Extreme will be the hottest game in ‘98."
Links Extreme is based on golf, with a new level of strategy
for the lawless competitor. There are opportunities to earn
golf balls with unique characteristics, play pranks on an
opponent, and use super terrain to gain distance or to
reach a strategic landing area.
Links Extreme will appeal to both single users and Internet
multi-players with a variety of game options. In addition to
the typical 9 and 18-hole rounds of golf and a demolition
driving range, Extreme will include several variations on the
sport for online head-to-head competition. A golfer’s
version of capture the flag, deathmatch and other contests
are currently in the works for the first edition of Links
Extreme. Extreme will include Mojo Bay Resort and
Country Club, a new fantasy course with island fairways
and colorful skyscapes set in the heart of the Caribbean.
