NFL Blitz Interview

SGN recently had a chance to ask Mark Turmell and Sal DiVita questions concerning their unqiue NFL Blitz product.

SGN: 1. What was your role on NFL Blitz?

Mark: Programmer, designer
Sal: Lead artist, designer, motion actor

SGN: 2. What prior projects have the team of NFL Blitz worked on?

Mark: My coin-op games are Smash TV, Total Carnage, NBA JAM, Wrestlemania, Hang Time, NFL Blitz
Sal: NBA Jam, Wrestlemania, Hangtime, NFL Blitz

SGN: 3. How long did the development of NFL Blitz take?

Mark/Sal: The coin-op development took 2 years, and the home versions for PlayStation, Nintendo 64 and PC took about 9 months.

SGN: 4. How difficult is it to convert an arcade game to a console and finally a PC game?

Mark/Sal: The PlayStation and PC were somewhat straightforward, and the Nintendo 64 is a bit more challenging. The biggest problem is cramming the contents of a 2 gigabyte hard drive (coin-op) into a 128 meg cartridge. The PC version with 3DFX support was easiest since the game was written in C, and the coin-op utilized the 3DFX chipset.
