NFL Fever 2000 (PC) Interview
7/1/99
7) Will players be able to create their own playbook?
Kathie: Each team has one of 5 pre-set playbooks (West Coast, Balanced, Pass to Run, Run to Pass, Play Action Pass). Players will be able to add plays to each team's playbook by copying them from the other playbooks or by creating them with our Play Editor (offensive plays only).
9) Will there be a noticeable difference between the skinny and the "plumped" players?
Dave: Yes, that was also one of the main focuses in this version. We took a look at the other games and couldn't see much difference between the players. So we feature five different player models. The gameplay, specifically the collision detection, is really designed to capture that interaction, and that intensity of tackling between the different sized players. For instance, a wideout can turn on those jets and make a leaping grab downfield, but a DB is going to flip him real easily ... likewise, the bigger guys will aim to pancake the would be tacklers, and those tacklers are going to put a lick on the QB if they get to him. You know, raw football ... hard hitting, real NFL football.
Kathie: Absolutely! We feature 5 different player models to reflect various heights, weights, and body styles, ranging from Doug Flutie (5'10", 176 lbs.) to Korey Stringer (6'4", 359 lbs.). [Also, the description of how weight/attributes effect gameplay is accurate, but it's not any different than what our competitors do.]
10) How many camera views will there be?
Kathie: Six: Normal, 3/4 Offense, Sideline, 3/4 Defense, Overhead, Ball Cam
11) Will there be a manage-only mode?
Kathie: There is not a specific "manage-only" mode, but if players simply select the play and snap the ball, the AI will take over all the on-field players.
12) Will all the juke moves be included? (i.e. jukes, swim moves, etc...)
Kathie: On offense, you can do a speed burst, spin, lower shoulder, juke, stiff arm, and hurdle. On defense, you can dive, tackle, swim, spin, and jump.
13) As you might know, wind has no effect in Microsoft Baseball 2000. Will the wind have an effect on field goals in NFL Fever 2000? How about the effect on the passing game?
