NCAA Gamebreaker 99 (PSX) Preview

Publisher: 989 Sports
Release Date: Summer 1998

Background Info

NCAA GameBreaker '99 features new 3D player and stadium models that generate incredible polygonal graphics and ultra realistic gameplay. Players are scaled to their actual height and weight, with motion capture animation utilizing Washington State grad Ryan Leaf, USC grad Jason Sehorn and Purdue grad Mike Alstott, to bring bone-jarring collisions and acrobatic catches to life. A new TV-style presentation features audio play-by-play by the voice of college football announcer Keith Jackson. "As in the real world of college football, NCAA GameBreaker '99 includes numerous 'GameBreakers' who can turn the game around every time they touch the ball," said Jeffrey Fox, vice president, marketing, 989 Studios. "NCAA GameBreaker '99 will excite gamers with all the realism and subtle details that make college football fans so fanatical. Plus, with Keith Jackson, all the realism of college football is in the game."

The flavor of college football is evident throughout the game. All 112 Division I stadiums from "The Horse Shoe" at Ohio State to "The Swamp" in Gainesville are re-created in amazing detail. More than 2,200 plays are at gamers' disposal and reflect characteristics of all NCAA Division I team playbooks. A new addition to NCAA GameBreaker '99 is "Blue Chip Recruiting," which allows players to build their favorite team into a national championship contender.

NCAA GameBreaker '99 features superior gameplay to accompany its amazing graphics. "On the fly" defensive shifts and Total Control Passing™ allow gamers to respond to different game situations. The "Pummel" button makes a statement early in the game by giving gamers the ability to deliver hard-hitting tackles.
