High Heat 2001 (PC) Interview

8/1/00

Our Rick Worrell had a chance to interview Jason Ray of the Sammy Sosa High Heat 2001 team.

1) Will future versions of the game have a financial system (free agent contract offers) a la Madden 2k franchise mode?

We're not prepared to talk about the feature set for Sammy Sosa High Heat Baseball 2002 at this time.

2) Will next year's High Heat have better graphics? If this game could look anything like TP20001, then it would easily be the best sports game I will have ever played.

Improving the graphics in Sammy Sosa High Heat Baseball 2002 is a major focus of the team. Expect better models, textures and lighting in next year's version, as well as some surprises. We want the baseball game that plays the best to look the best, too.

3) Will there be regular roster patches throughout the season?

The High Heat team has been very diligent, delivering updates to the consumers as required. During the Summer we have 3 roster updates planned for release: Start of 2000, 2000 All Star Break and End of 2000. The first of the roster updates is available from our website ( http://www.highheat.com ) and the second is already in production.

4) Any plans for a online supported Dreamcast version of the game? Or, for Dreamcast support at all?

3DO is always exploring new platforms on which to expand its development; however, at this moment there are no plans for a Dreamcast version of Sammy Sosa High Heat Baseball.

5) Will there be add-ons available for stadium updates and uniform updates? If so, where will they be available--3DO's site?

Sammy Sosa High Heat Baseball has Major League Baseball approved home and away uniforms for every team, as well as 45 stadiums, including 6 "classics" and 2 real minor league ballparks. Because we've shipped such a complete game, we've minimized the need for add-ons and the like.

6) Are the developers making any plans to port HH2001 or future versions to the Mac platform?

At this time there are no plans to port High Heat to the Mac.

7) A lot of people have been enjoying online multiplayer games--are you pleased with the way this feature turned out? Any changes you'd like to see?

We're extremely excited about playing Sammy Sosa High Heat Baseball 2001 online! In fact, several of our team members have played games against our customers on Zone.com and Heat.net. As with any online multiplayer game, there are issues with latency that we'd like to work out, but for most users it's a fun-filled experience. In the future we'd like to be able to show replays in multiplayer, as well as add more support for online leagues.
